An invitation to explore.
In autumn 2025, I was commissioned by Arnolfini Arts to write an introduction for that season’s exhibition, Emma Talbot’s Everything is Energy. Inspired by themes in Talbot’s work, of decay, renewal and interdependence, the intro - part of the gallery guide - invited visitors to think about the work in new ways.

‘Jess is a brilliant writer whose ability to distill clear intention within her texts, no matter how long or short makes her an absolute dream to collaborate with. The invitation text she wrote for our Explore... guide for our major exhibition Emma Talbot: Everything is Energy (18 October 2025 - 8 February 2026) felt very distinctly her own but also captured the essence of the big ideas that the artist explores in her work, in a way that felt accessible for our wide variety of audiences.
